How does this make you feel? You should know from my introduction that I am writing about an educational, factual blog post about how to overcome writer's block. It has a survey that people can take after reading the article if they want which will show if their minds are open or closed after reading it. It asks them how much they agree with certain statements. If their minds are closed, the response for this is "Definitely not true!" but if their minds are open, it will say "Probably not true." Some students consider this survey to be a way to figure out which essay topics are being talked about in class, while others fear that their essay might contain too much drama to score well on the survey. Drew Wyckoff, the author of this article, takes pride in his survey that he conducted when he was in college because it showed him exactly what grade each essay got. The essay topics Drew uses cover a wide variety of subjects and he says there are very few commonalities to his surveys. The way his essay topics are laid out is like taking a walk, he says. If the essay topic is about the Holocaust, then it will be laid out like an author would introduce you to a character in a book. It will say something like, "The Holocaust was started by Adolf Hitler," and if the author wants to introduce you to someone else who was involved in the Holocaust, it might say something like, "Heinrich Himmler was Adolf Hitler's right-hand man." One of Drew's students said that she thought his survey gave her an edge over her classmates because she was able to see what topics were being covered in class so she could write about them from different perspectives from what she had been taught. Drew says that he can tell when people are students because they "rhythmically" try to find questions in his survey like everyone else, but the ones who fail to answer the questions, he knows are taught by him or other professors. Drew believes that it is important for students to know what is being taught in order for them to write better essays because they will not know if their ideas are original. He believes that it is up to his students' discretion whether or not they want to be open-minded about what they learn in college or if they want to be stubborn and follow their own beliefs. Drew comes from a conservative family, so he says that even though his surveys may seem like they are not objective, he feels he has an obligation to keep the survey neutral. When asked if Drew can be biased towards certain students, Drew said that with his job as an instructor, he doesn't care about what anyone thinks of him. Drew's "fun" was writing this essay because it appealed to him more than anything else ever has. He enjoys different forms of media and reading non-fiction is one of the only forms of entertainment that allows him to be spontaneous. cfa1e77820
